So, my dad moved to Bulgaria last year, I was really sad that he was leaving, but it was his choice so I kinda got over it. He booked me and my brother tickets to fly over and stay for two weeks during our school Easter holidays, which was SO exciting! Neither of us had ever flown before, so we were really scared about going on a plane. We got a train with our mum from Loughborough to Manchester airport, which took 3 hours! We arrived at the hotel at around 12:00 where Anita was waiting for us. Anita is my dad's girlfriends mum, kinda like a step-grandma. She had to fly with us because I'm only 14, old enough to fly on my own with EasyJet, but not old enough to be responsible for my brother.
I was so tired due to being at school all day and then having to take the train, I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. We slept from about 12:30 until we got woken up by our mum at 4 in the morning. Apparently, she had stayed up all night talking to Anita! We got dressed again and then headed to check-in. I got stopped when going through security because I forgot to take my deodorant out of my bag... Oops! I didn't matter though, I don't think I was carrying any bombs! When we got through to duty free, I got sprayed with some really nice perfume called Alien or something. The plane wasn't really scary at all - it was just like the train journey to Manchester. It took 3 hours to get to Sofia, but Bulgaria is 2 hours ahead of Britain, so even though we took off at 8 am, we arrived at 12:30. Our dad came to pick us up, and it was a 5 hour car journey to Lomtsi. I slept through most of it, but I always find it really uncomfortable sleeping in the back of a car.
We had so much fun while we were there! My dad lives on a farm, so he's got 4 sheep, 10 rabbits, and he did have some chickens before the Pine Martens got them. There were some kittens that got dumped at the bottom of the field, which ended up adopting my Dad and his girlfriend Tracey as their new parents. There was Minogo, Shadow and Dobŭr (Dobre). Minogo didn't stick around for long, but Shadow and Dobre are still living there.
I loved it there, we went to Popovo to the Friday market, Veliko Tanovo, which was the previous capital, to buy some Morganville Vampires books, and my brother went with dad to a place near Varna to pick up a lathe.
It was so fun, I didn't want to come back home! But I'm glad I did, I saw my mum at the airport and just wanted to go home right away.
So, in conclusion, Bulgaria is soooo nice, and flying isn't scary! I can't wait to go back and see everyone!
